Urban Ministry Training Campus in Astoria, Queens

Located in the heart of Astoria, Queens, the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM) Training Campus is more than a facility — it is a place where people are equipped for urban ministry, where lives are transformed, and where God’s mission to reach the inner city becomes tangible.

Our 74,000 square-foot urban ministry training campus welcomes churches, mission teams, students, and leaders from across the United States and around the world who come to learn how to serve communities throughout New York City.

Every part of our campus is designed to support training, fellowship, worship, and hands-on ministry outreach in one of the most diverse cities in the world.

Dormitories for Mission Teams and Ministry Groups

Our campus includes comfortable dormitory accommodations designed specifically for short-term mission teams, ministry training groups, and church volunteers serving in NYC.

  • Bunk-bed style dorm rooms accommodating 4–8 people
  • Separate men’s and women’s dormitory floors to ensure a welcoming and safe environment
  • Community showers on every floor with half-bathrooms in each dorm room
  • Spaces designed for rest, reflection, fellowship, and spiritual renewal

Whether your group is small or large, our housing provides a place where teams can recharge and stay focused on their mission of bringing compassion and hope to New York City.

A Campus Designed for Urban Ministry

At NYSUM, every square foot of our campus exists for one purpose: to equip people to serve the city.

Whether you come to:

  • Train for urban ministry
  • Participate in a short-term mission trip
  • Serve communities across New York City
  • Worship, learn, and grow in faith

Our campus is a place where vision is birthed, hearts are renewed, and people are empowered to carry Christ’s love into the urban mission field.

Meeting & Worship Spaces

NYSUM’s training campus includes a variety of meeting rooms and worship environments designed for teaching, prayer gatherings, and leadership development.

Our facilities include:

These spaces are more than meeting rooms. They are places where leaders are trained, ministries are strengthened, and teams prepare to serve communities throughout New York City.

Food. Fellowship. Family.

Fellowship & Dining

Community is an essential part of the NYSUM experience. Our campus provides welcoming spaces where teams can build relationships, share meals, and reflect on their ministry experiences.

Meals include:

  • Soup and salad bars
  • Freshly prepared hot meals
  • Shared dining experiences that bring teams together

These meals create opportunities for connection, reflection, and encouragement among mission teams serving in NYC.

Lounge Area

Our comfortable lounge includes sofas and seating areas where teams can gather for fellowship, encouragement, and conversation after a day of outreach.

Dining Room

Our cafeteria-style dining room seats up to 200 guests and serves home-style meals designed to nourish both body and spirit.

Mobile Food Truck Ministry Training

One of the most impactful parts of the NYSUM training experience is our Mobile Food Truck Ministry outreach program.

Short-term missionaries are trained and then deployed into New York City neighborhoods where they:

  • Provide meals to people experiencing hunger and poverty
  • Serve destitute men, women, children, and struggling veterans
  • Share compassion, encouragement, and the love of Jesus

Through this outreach, teams gain firsthand experience serving marginalized communities, learning how practical compassion and faith-based outreach can impact lives across the city.
