Creating a Place of Rest for Urban Ministry Leaders
The Building the Dream Expansion Project is an important step in the continued growth of the New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM). This initiative will expand the ministry’s training campus by building five new prophet’s chambers designed specifically for pastors and ministry leaders.
A peaceful environment for our Ministry Leaders
These private retreat spaces will provide a peaceful environment where ministry leaders and couples can step away from the demands of daily service, reconnect with God, and experience spiritual renewal.
Urban ministry is often demanding and fast-paced. Leaders serving in cities across the United States and around the world carry immense responsibility as they disciple, train, and serve their communities. The Building the Dream Project exists to support these leaders by offering a place of rest, reflection, and renewal during their time at NYSUM.
Supporting the Mission of Urban Ministry Training
For decades, NYSUM has equipped individuals called to serve in cities through urban missionary training, leadership development, and global ministry partnerships.
The expansion of the NYSUM training campus will strengthen that mission by creating space for pastors and ministry leaders who visit the campus for:
- Urban ministry training programs
- Leadership development and mentoring
- Missionary preparation
- Spiritual retreat and renewal
- Ministry partnership gatherings
By expanding the campus with these new prophet’s chambers, NYSUM will be able to welcome more leaders who are actively serving communities in need—both in the United States and internationally.
A Vision for Renewal and Rest
The prophet’s chambers being constructed through the Building the Dream Expansion Project are designed as quiet, restorative spaces for couples serving in ministry.
Each space will allow pastors and ministry leaders to:
- Spend focused time in prayer and reflection
- Reconnect spiritually away from daily ministry pressures
- Experience rest and renewal during training or ministry visits
- Strengthen their calling to serve communities in need
These environments are intentionally created to help leaders return to their ministries refreshed, encouraged, and spiritually strengthened.
